Reginald Powell Obituary

Reginald Dean Powell, 77, of Wheat Ridge passed away on May 11, 2021. Born on September 7, 1943 in San Diego, California he was the son of R.D. and Mary (Kaspar) Powell.

Raised in San Leandro, CA, Reg attended San Leandro High School where in he Lettered in Baseball as a pitcher and graduated as a top 10 student.  Reg attended  UC Davis where he continued to pitch baseball and graduated in 1965.  After graduation, Reg served our country in the U.S. Army including a year in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant with the 1st Calvary Division.  Reg worked as a Special Agent for the FBI for nearly 30 years retiring in 1997. During his employment with the FBI he earned many honors and recognitions for excellence in the field. 

Reg enjoyed the outdoors;  fishing the ocean, lakes and streams in Colorado, Mexico, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.  He was an avid Duck Hunter with his best pal Cassie, a Wirehaired German Shorthair Pointer by his side.  He also enjoyed hunting deer, elk, ducks, geese and upland game birds.  Reg was a lifetime member of the NRA, Trout Unlimited, the VFW, and the Front Range Fly Fishers.

He will be remembered for his love of family.  Reg had two families: his birth family and his FBI Family with his life long Buddies.  Reg enjoyed attending the Oklahoma Family Reunions where he could visit with his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a very sincere and big hearted family member to all with who knew him.  Reg had an everlasting smile that left everyone saying “what a nice guy”!

Reg is survived by his brother, James “Jim” Powell and his wife, Carol,  his sister Anne Marie Maretti, nieces, Martina Powell and Sara Maretti, nephews Bert Powell, Paul Maretti, and Bryan Maretti.

In addition to his parents, Reg is preceded in death by his infant daughter Corrienne and several of his FBI Buddies. 

Reg will be laid to rest in Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California along side of his infant daughter, Corrienne.

Reg will have a service at Duggan's Funeral Service main chapel on Monday, June 7th at 12:00pm, noon.
