Louise Hollington Clay, the daughter of the late Henry and Rebecca Hollington, Sr was born in John’s Island, South Carolina on May 26, 1942. Louise received her formal education on John's Island, South Carolina and graduated from Haut Gap High School on May 23, 1961. She moved from John's Island, South Carolina to California March of 1969.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Henry D. Clay on May 25,1974 who preceded her in death on May 14, 2000.
Louise’s career and love were in cooking, meal preparations and Healthcare. She had numerous positions in Food Services, Home Health Aide, Nurse’s Aide and her final job as a Dietitian with the Kindred Hill Haven Lawton Convalescent Nursing Facility where she retired from of 31 years.
She was a woman of integrity, humility, strength and faithfulness. She became a member of Howard Presbyterian Church on Oak and Fell Street in San Francisco, Ca which transitioned into New Liberation Presbyterian Church on Divisadero Street in San Francisco, Ca in which she was a charter member from 1974 until her death.
Louise enjoyed traveling. She went on several cruises, trips to Europe and the most memorable of her trips was her cruise to the Hawaiian Islands with her daughter and son-in-law.
Louise went home to her heavenly rest from no more pain and sickness on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Rebecca Hollington, Sr. Her Siblings: Mary Lease, Willie, Joseph, Robert, Irvin, Oliver Hollington and most recently the death of her bother Isaiah Hollington on January 25, 2021.
Louise will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Robin Hollington Thurston (son-in-law Peter Thurston), Stepchildren: John Clay, Patrick Clay, Kevin Clay and Monique El-Amin. Her Siblings: Benjamin (Louise) Hollington, Henry (Jeanette) Hollington, Jr, Sister-in-Law: Wilhelmina (Isaiah deceased) Hollington, Sister-in-law Rosemary Green Hollington ( deceased Irvin), Sister-in-Law: Delores (Oliver deceased) Hollington, Eugene Hollington (A very dear friend Dorothy Stephenson), Jeanette Hollington (Arthur Lee deceased) Mitchell, Richard (Johnnie Mae) Hollington, and Allen (Juanita) Hollington.
Brother and Sister-in-Laws, Evan Clay (deceased), Walter Clay (deceased) Beatrice (Freddie deceased) Brigham, Joyce Westfield (deceased), Christina Cyrus (deceased), Gloria (Patrick) Williams, and Manzell (Juanita) Clay.
