Dearly beloved husband of the late Nancy; Gene is also predeceased by his siblings Josephine, Myrtle, Wilbur, Wilmar, Phyllis and Warren. Survived by his beloved sons, James Philip and Paul Eugene (Lisa) and adored grandchildren, Emily Margaret, Jack David, Allison Katherine, and Luke Gene and his sister in law Olga, "Kay" Cleary. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A native of Scobey, Montana, Gene's family moved throughout several western states during the great depression and settled in San Francisco in 1942. Gene attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated early to enlist in the Navy early in 1945. After WWII he attended USF and met Nancy at a St. Philip's dance on January 24, 1947 and married her on August 11, 1951. He joined the San Francisco Police Department on July 1, 1949 and the Bureau of Inspectors in 1960, retiring from the SFPD in 1979.
Gene has been very active at St. Philip the Apostle Parish, most memorably as a lector. His family would like to thank Carol Parks and the caregivers at Alegre Homecare, especially Ruth Zeledon. Donations preferred to Hospice by the Bay.
Friends may visit on Friday after 4:00 pm at Duggan's Funeral Service 3434 - 17th Street where the Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 pm and are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 am thence to St. Philip's Church where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
