Gregory Michael Pennington, 36 of San Francisco and formerly of Andover, MA, and Baltimore, MD, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on January 26, 2026.
Greg was the beloved son of Brooke Mueller and Bill Pennington, brother of Melissa Pennington, brother-in-law of Nick Lyle.
Greg's true passion was connecting with people, growing deep friendships, and blending everyone together. He did this effortlessly through conversation and his vast interest in skiing, music, sports, reading, sailing, history, and travel.
Greg was born January 1, 1990, in Boston, MA, and grew up in Andover, MA. He attended Pingree School and graduated from Gettysburg College with a BA in International Studies; and with that degree, he had a professional career as a Customer Experience Manager in software.
Greg was an enthusiastic, life-long, dedicated skier, making a second "home" in Tahoe, CA, and experiencing mountains across the world. As a zealous snow lover, an annual pastime was to track the location of the first fall, or even just a dusting, signaling it was time to get ready to go. Greg was also a die-hard fan of the iconic Boston sports teams, Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics so Greg's seasons were always filled.
Beyond the hometown teams, Greg was an avid UNC and Arsenal F.C. fan, often getting up at 4 a.m. to watch a soccer match.
Greg's endless curiosity, desire to learn, and intelligence gave him limitless knowledge. If anyone had a question, their answer was easily found, “Just Ask Greg".
Music was Greg’s language. It filled him with joy and connection, and he shared that gift through legendary playlists crafted for every moment. His soundtrack was expansive and eclectic, a real living reflection of the life he loved so fully.
Greg's family and friends gathered for celebrations of his life in San Francisco, New York, and Baltimore. Greg's magical manner of intertwining everyone was alive and growing.
Charitable donations can be made to High Fives Foundation, an adaptive sports foundation for those facing life-changing injuries.
