Carolyn Elizabeth Kay

It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Elizabeth Kay announces her unexpected passing on April 5, 2026, in San Francisco, California. Carolyn was born on April 21, 1979, in Pasadena, California. She lived in Temple City, Poway, and Granada Hills and graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1997. She moved to Arcata, California and attended Humboldt State, graduating in 2004.

One of Carolyn’s great passions was traveling. She especially enjoyed taking cruises. She was an avid scuba diver and was so excited when she earned her certificate. Carolyn had a strong creative spirit. Her most recent pursuit was making beautiful jewelry. Carolyn loved all animals. She often kept an aquarium for her amphibians, and had a few beloved pets throughout her life, notably her kitty Finnean and pup Ziggy. Carolyn had a huge heart and is remembered by her friends for being kind and fun to be around. 

Carolyn is predeceased by all of her grandparents, aunt Marge Miller and uncle Larry Fogg. She is survived by her partner Jarred Hand, her parents Brenda Markert and Steve & Joyce Kay, siblings Cathy Supran (Seth), Robert Kay, and Darren Kay, nieces Julia Supran, Ashley, Emily, Tara & Amber Kay, nephews Thomas Supran and Jordan Kay, aunts Jan Fogg, Valerie Gertz (Gary) and Monica Sinclair (Craig), as well as many cousins and loved ones.

Carolyn had passions for animals and humans alike. Donations may be made in her memory for charities that support animals, immigration, and LGBTQ rights. Muttville Senior Pet Adoptions and SF LGBT Center linked below.
