Walter Garcia passed away with family and friends by his side on 04/24/2018 at 10:49pm. Born on July 16th, 1962 in Guatemala and later moved to San Francisco, Walter was the first of three children, followed by brother Flavio and sister Sofia, born to Martha and Rafael Garcia. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Gabrielle Garcia, daughter Melissa Castillo, parents Martha and Rafael, brother Flavio, sister Sofia, niece Athena, nephew Victor Jr., step-daughters Danielle and Noelle, step-grandchildren Jasmine, Julia, and Jaylin, and numerous loving family members and friends. As a San Francisco Mission native, his passions included cruising and reminiscing in his old neighborhoods, attending 49er games, listening and dancing to his favorite music such as Santana, oldies, funk, and salsa, hanging out at the beach, eating crab, and spending time with his daughter, family, and friends, amongst many other fun hobbies. He moved to South San Francisco 30 years ago, and worked for the South San Francisco Unified School District for 18 years. He was such a wonderful, loving, and caring person, and was loved by so many. He made a huge impact in so many lives, and no one will ever forget his handsome smile. Walter had a presence that could light up a room and was the life of the party. He leaves his mark and place in so many hearts. He will be put to rest on May 4th, 2018 at Holy Cross Cemetery after an 11:00am mass at Mission Dolores and one last cruise through the Mission.
