Lisa Barnes Obituary

Lisa Chnee Barnes was the 3rd child born to Cornell and Mairee Gatewood on August 1st, 1967 in San Francisco. She was baptized in her longtime church home, Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where she remained a faithful servant for her entire life.

She attended St. Emydius Grammar School, San Francisco, CA and graduated from Cathedral High School class of 1985.  She continued her education at San Diego State University and received her Associates Degree in Arts 1993 from City college of San Francisco

She met the love of her life Robert A. Barnes in 1989 and they married in 1994. From that union a beautiful baby girl, Leia Gwendolyn Barnes was born August 10th 2002.

Lisa had a love for education and developing young minds. She began career in education in 2007  and worked in the San Lorenzo School system as a Paraprofessional (Autistic Students) until her passing.

She loved the Lord, her family, her church, Girl Scouts of America, MOCHA Moms, her co-workers and her students, and the arts (especially live music). She enjoyed traveling and jumped at every chance to expose her daughter to everything the world had to offer. She actively supported Leia and Robert in all their combined interests.

She leaves her loving husband and daughter, mother Mairee Gatewood, brother Russell Gatewood, mother-in-love Mabel Barnes, the always loyal Alf and a host of cousins and dear friends.

She is preceded in Paradise by her son Zachary, father Cornell Gatewood, her aunts Gwendolyn Gatewood, Dorothy Hampton, Melvina Luellen & Lucinda Johnson, her uncles, Larry Gatewood, Jody Gatewood, George Williams, Gentry Williams, her paternal and maternal grandparents
