Ken Seminsky

Born in Columbus Ohio on March 16, 1948 to Joseph and Elza (Miller) Seminsky, Ken was proud of his Czech/Hungarian heritage. His father’s death at the age of 46 left Elza to raise three boys aged 11, 10 and 5, and Ken soon joined his older brother in finding work wherever they could. After high school, he enlisted for two years in Army Intelligence and his service on Okinawa was a defining period in his life.

Following his service, and with his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio State University in hand, he drove non-stop to California, spent a year at Lake Tahoe, and then on to San Francisco where he worked as a General Contractor. Ken was always enthralled by his dreams of the island of Tahiti, and by his memories of Lake Tahoe. But he found his true happiness closer to home in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

He married Sarah in 1991, and they welcomed their son in 1993. They moved to Pacifica in 1996 and remained close after their divorce - Ken took on an active parenting role to Sarah’s two adopted children as well as their son. When Ken moved to Casa Pacifica in 2015, he found a new community of friends. 

Ken was a devout follower of Krishnamurti, and he lived by his convictions and values every day of his life. As all of his friends knew, Ken was one of a kind.

Ken passed away from heart failure on August 1, 2021, He is survived by his three children Ricky, Jasmine and Jesse, by his ex-wife Sarah, and by his brothers Joe (Nori) and Mike (Sheila).
