Emil Stan Obituary

Emil N. Stan passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday August 7, 2022 at 7:25pm. His wife of 63 years Betty J. Stan, daughter Karen L. Layton and “grand-dog” Zoey were by his side when he passed.

Emil was in the US Navy and served in the medical unit for 4 years. After his time in the military, he worked as a printing pressman, printing labels for food companies and ball games for 30 years. He was a loyal and hard working man.

During his free time he loved to fish! A few of his favorite places were at San Francisco Bakers Beach, Feather River and Ocean beach. He also loved to hunt for pheasant with his black Labrador retriever and golf was also another big hobby for him. He enjoyed long drives up through California, Oregon and Washington State several times a year as family vacations, visiting his parents and other relatives. Stopping in small towns and of course every river he could find to do a little fishing along the way.

Some would call him Mr. McGyver for all the unique and crazy ways he could fix something up to work again. He loved woodwork; he built many speaker cabinets with only the finest materials to thoroughly enjoy listening to his classical music loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear as well.

His all time favorite thing to do was to share God's word with anyone who would listen. He loved the Lord with all his heart and wanted everyone to know of Jesus' love for them (John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, the he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”). He served in Open Bible Church of San Francisco for 27 years. He gave from his heart and never expected anything in return. He was an amazing husband and father, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of an example of  what a true Christian man is. He will be greatly missed by many but we now celebrate his eternal life in heaven. Emil and Betty lived by Proverbs 3:5-6,  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
