Anthony Twain Smith

November 17, 1946 ~ September 18, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Our beloved Anthony Twain Smith passed away the morning of Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home in San Francisco, CA; a city in which he was a life-long resident.

Anthony was born November 17, 1946 in Richmond, CA to the union of George and Anna Dell Smith.  In 1951 the family relocated to San Francisco, CA where Anthony attended Dudley Stone Elementary School.  Anthony graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1964.  After graduation, Anthony worked as a Longshoreman for eight years.  Later in life he became a Merchant Seaman; and continued his career for ten years.  He loved the sea and the tug boats he worked on.

Anthony loved his family and his mother, Dell who was his life.  He was such a devoted son and care-giver for many years.  He will be remembered for this devotion, his sparkling personality, beautiful smile and laughter he brought to those around him.  He will be missed dearly.

Anthony leaves to morn his loving mother, Anna Dell Taylor; his only sibling, his older brother Roy Smith (Candace Wesen); his aunt, Iola “Honey” Harris Magee; his nephews, Eric Smith and Kimathi Smith; his nieces, Kirsten Smith and Rachel Smith; his great-nephews, Amari Taylor, Eliijah Taylor and Zaire Taylor; his great-niece, Karah-Grace Smith; along with numerous cousins, relatives and a host of close, long-time friends.

Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents William Harris, Jr. and Lennie Jefferson; his uncles, Henry Harris and Sheppard Harris; his cousin Kalvin Harris; and his dearly loved dog Stella.

Services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco.  The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., and services will commence immediately afterward at 11:00 a.m.  Reverend Deborah will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Duggan’s Funeral Home.
