Constance Dolores Vrionis

Vrionis, Constance Dolores. – Entered eternal life March 11, 2018 in Walnut Creek, California. A native of Lansing, Michigan and resident of San Francisco born March 7, 1937, daughter of the late Rev. Fr. George Makos and Presvytera Josephine Makos, sister of the late Haralambos (Bob) Makos, niece of the late Angeline Manos and Christine Phillips, daughter-in-law of the late Eleutheria G. Vrionis and Gerasimos S. Vrionis. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Milton G. Vrionis and brother-in-law Gerald P. Vrionis. Connie is survived by her devoted son Gary M. Vrionis and beloved daughter-in-law Constantina Vrionis, cherished granddaughter Victoria (Vrionis) Cella and her husband Michael Cella, adoring grandson Milton G. Vrionis II, most precious great-granddaughter Charlotte Cella, sister-in-law Helen Vrionis, brother-in-law Nickolas G. Vrionis, his wife Janet and their daughter Kristen, niece Kathleen Mertens, her husband Marc and their children, nephew Michael Vrionis, his wife Maria and their children, dearest “Simbetheri” Mary and Samuel G. Chicos and their daughters Anthie Mitropoulos, her husband George and their daughter Elizabeth; and Demetria Chicos. She is also survived by first cousins Phillip Phillips and his wife Amanda, Anthy Tellschow and her husband Jeffrey, Jeannine Demmon and her husband Robert, cousin Vangie Laliotis and her husband the Honorable Theodore Laliotis, along with many other cousins, Godchildren, “Koumbari”, extended family, and dear friends. Connie and her family moved from Lansing in 1954 to San Jose, California when her father became the parish priest at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. She loved her time in San Jose and moved to San Francisco in 1960 when she married her husband. Connie and Milton enjoyed a beautiful life together moving from San Francisco to Hillsborough and eventually to Blackhawk before Connie ultimately returned to the City by the Bay. Their son was the light of their lives. Connie was an avid reader and collector of antiques. She loved to decorate, knit, crochet, needlepoint and paint. Her fondest moments were spent with her son and his family shopping, traveling or dining out. She looked forward to planning and hosting her annual Thanksgiving Dinner. She was a dedicated member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco and a former director and member of its choir, a former member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross and member and director of its choir in Belmont, a past president and member of the Holy Trinity Philoptochos Society; a member, past president and past Jewel Ball Chairman of the San Francisco Auxiliary to the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, and a member of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute Women’s Board. She will be remembered fondly for her boundless love, generosity and philanthropy. Connie was a deeply religious person and was thankful for the guidance of her spiritual advisors including His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, the late Rev. Fr. Anthony Kosturos, the late Rev. Fr. Leon Contos, and Rev. Fr. Aris Metrakos. Connie fought a courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure for the last seven years. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who helped Connie in her later years: her team of physicians including Drs. Lee Brett Eisan, Adam Rosenblatt, Rupsa R. Yee, Diana M. Antoniucci, Ari Baron, David Heiden, Michael Fox and their staffs, the Hospice of the East Bay, the dedicated doormen at the Bellaire Tower, her faithful caregiver Precila Servantes, and her loyal assistant of over twenty years Michael Kerkezian.   A private funeral service is planned. Thank you to all who loved and cherished Connie the way her family did and always will. She will be sorely missed. May Connie’s memory be eternal. Memorial contributions in the memory of Constance D.
